Thanks to the help of our Editorial Board Member as well as Guest Editor Prof. José Pinela and Prof. José Ignacio Alonso-Esteban, EFF journal was promoted at "The XVIII National Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Chemistry" held at the Aveiro Congress Center, Portugal, from 24 to 26 July 2023.
The theme of The XVIII National Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Chemistry this year is "Chemistry Without Borders with Diversity” (https://xxviiienspq.events.chemistry.pt/). As a central science, Chemistry is a disciplinary area that promotes the dialogue of knowledge between mathematics, physics, biology, medicine, earth and environmental sciences, and the arts.Consequently, it blurs or eradicates the presumed boundaries between these disciplines, embracing the development of holistic knowledge. The event comprised 8 plenary lectures, 26 keynote lectures, 66 oral communications, 21 flash communications, and 228 poster communications. Organized by the Portuguese Chemical Society, this Meeting stands as the largest Chemistry event in Portugal. During the presentation of the poster titled “Proximate composition and free sugar and fatty acid profiles of Asian hornet larvae: An alternative food source?, attendees were introduced to the Special Issue “The food (r)evolution towards food quality/security and human nutrition” (https://www.explorationpub.com/Journals/eff/Special_Issues/133) through the distribution of dedicated flyers. The attending experts show enthusiasm when introduced to this new journal and its editorial policies. This activity contributed to attracting potential authors to contribute to the Special Issue while promoting the EFF's audience and influence.
Furthermore, the journal was previously promoted during oral presentations at the 16th Food Chemistry Meeting held in Castelo Branco, Portugal, from 23 to 26 October 2022, and at the XXVI Galician-Portuguese Chemistry Meeting held at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, from 16 to 18 November 2022. Promotional activities are important for the Guest Editors who will continue to disseminate both the Special Issue and the EFF journal at future events.
