In low- and middle-income countries with rapid urbanization, asthma and allergic disorders are increasing in parallel with changes in the living environment and lifestyle. In Finland, a systematic public health programme was implemented from 2008 to 2018 to mitigate the burden of allergic disorders by revisiting the prevention strategy. As lifestyle factors can both exacerbate and help to manage asthma symptoms, practical advice was given for building and improving tolerance/ resilience (primary prevention) as well as preventing symptoms and exacerbations (secondary and tertiary prevention). In this Special Issue, we would like to explore the complex and multifaceted interactions between lifestyles and asthma with top scientists, aiming to update topics like a) diet, b) physical activity, c) obesity, d) smoking and indoor air quality, e) sleep habits, f) stress and mental health.
