About the Special lssue

One of the major challenges of our century is to protect people in the workplace in order to preserve their quality of life and well-being. Musculoskeletal disorders are a major problem, as they are responsible for a large number of work stoppages, disability, absenteeism and significant direct and indirect costs. It is a worldwide public health problem, affecting all working environments. In this context, understanding the mechanisms that lead to the onset of musculoskeletal disorders is a major multidisciplinary scientific challenge. We welcome any research that can help us understand the importance of understanding and controlling the causes and impact of musculoskeletal disorders. This special issue is devoted to recent advances likely to provide knowledge for improving the prevention and assessment of musculoskeletal risks independently of the work environment (health, industry, rehabilitation, sport and ergonomics...). These may take account of new working conditions: flexibility, remote working, new forms of employment.... We welcome contributions on the above topics in any of the following forms: reliability studies, validity studies, correlational studies, observational studies, study protocols, longitudinal studies, case studies, etc., as well as systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Keywords: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomic risk assessment, human factors and safety, occupational risk, pain and discomfort, motion analysis and wearable sensors, muscle and electromyography, dynamic and kinematic modeling
