About the Special lssue

Although in this current era, several promises are already translated challenges into a therapeutic solution, owing to the innovative approach of integrating existing knowledge of medical sciences with contemporary technological advancements.

Despite this, in parallel to the above, due to the emergence of new diseases, increasing complexity of existing disorders, as well as higher incidences of drug resistance; the medical fraternity and scientists are facing immense challenges with escalating of newly discovered conceptualized bench products into shelves of the clinics because of several regulatory, ethical, and financial restrictions. In order to avoid such hurdles for listing new drugs on the shelves, of late there is increasing interest in the repositioning of existing drugs, from one shelf to another with the addition of a new profile with the existing purposing.

As such practices become an important part of the drug development process and clinicians, we are here aimed to discuss the latest experimental and computation methods as well as scientific techniques as an operational approach for targeted delivery of the drugs as well as their repurposing in new inflammatory clinical indications, including cancer.

In brief, implementing a judicious and comprehensive strategy to repositioning of existing drugs would ultimately provide unique clinical, operational, as well as business opportunities.
